In a Presbyterian church, the Session is the governing body composed of the pastor (or pastors) and a group of elected lay leaders who oversee the spiritual life and discipline of the congregation. It is responsible for shepherding the members, administering sacraments, guiding worship, and ensuring that the church operates in faithfulness to Scripture and the Reformed confessions.
